St. Petersburg Hosts Eurasian Philosophy Prize Awards Ceremony
A ceremonial awards presentation for the Eurasian Philosophy Prize took place in St. Petersburg, according to the event organizers.
The Prize was held as part of the Ninth Russian Philosophical Congress, which brought together nearly 1,000 philosophers from ten countries: Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, China, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Armenia.
The names of the laureates in ten award categories remained confidential until the final moment. The winners were announced from the stage during a theatrical ceremony incorporating elements of virtual reality. The project was realized with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.
The Prize Council consisted of 51 scholars, including 30 Doctors of Science and 16 Candidates of Science representing 24 universities and research institutions across Russia and neighboring countries. The winners were selected through a secret ballot.
“Today the world is undergoing a profound turning point. A new world requires new ideas. More than ever, Russia needs philosophers and their creative ideas and meanings—ideas capable of making Russia a new global leader,” said Oleg Matveychev, organizer of the Prize, Doctor of Philosophy and Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Among the laureates of the 2026 Eurasian Philosophy Prize was Russian sculptor Dashi Namdakov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts.
“It was completely unexpected for me to find myself among such a respected community. I have always enjoyed communicating with philosophers and I read extensively. Receiving this award is a real surprise. Especially when one practices what I would call ‘silent philosophy.’ It is a tremendous honor for me,” Namdakov said.
The full list of winners has been published on the Prize’s official website.
The Prize program also includes two public events. On June 19, philosopher Alexander Sekatsky will lead a masterclass at the MARS Art Space, while on June 20, St. Petersburg State University will host a philosophical debate featuring the Prize laureates.
